What is sublimation printing?

Sublimation is the process of transferring a printed image onto a surface through heat and pressure. Mugs that have images on are usually produced in this fashion, but that is not all. Sublimation can also be used for fabric printing, glass picture tiles, custom phone cases, and much more. For all the information you may need check out our Sublimation FAQ page.

How to sublimate on products

Our basic how-to guides are very useful for clients who are new sublimation and give a basic guide to how to print on to popular 'sublimatable' products- Printing a sublimation mug How to print a sublimation T-Shirt / fabric item How to print a sublimation metal sheet

Why the ET-1810?

Not only is this printer easy to use, but it offers excellent value and includes some amazing functions you won't find on other printers. The main attraction of this printer is the Ecotank, and the biggest advantage of it is the fact that it will never ask for ink. No ink out messages will interrupt your printing, meaning you can stack up the paper feed and leave it printing indefinitely. In other words the printer will never stop printing as long as it has ink in the tank and paper in the feed. For this reason alone multiple customers have switched to this system. Moreover, the print quality is outstanding for a 4 colour machine. Images are rich in colour and transferred images lose no detail. Key features;
  • Print only - no scanner / copier facility
  • Wireless function (WiFi)
  • Easy fill Ecotank system

Support for the following devices will be discontinued as of 11/11/2020 All Apple devices; iMac, Macbook, iPad, and iPhone. Android devices; Chromebook, all mobile telephones and tablets. Linux based systems. The decision to cut support for these devices comes down to colour correction. Devices listed above do not offer, cannot currently use, or completely ignore custom ICC profiles. ICC profiles are a necessity when trying to achieve accurate colours with sublimation printing, and without their use the finished result will not be as desired. Support for purchases before this date will still be offered, but updates made to your system after 11/11/2020 will not be covered in our technical support. This decision may change in the future if support for ICC profiles is made available in these devices, or in the case of Apple Macbooks and iMacs, when Apple correct their ongoing issues with colour correction.

The Ink Experts 30 x 23cm Swing Away Heat Press.  Suitable for  heat pressing images up to A4 (297 x 210mm) or 30x23cm in size. This machine features a swing upper heating platen that 'swings' or rotates to allow easy access to the product prior to or after heat pressing. Digital heat press machine is fantastic value for money and ideal for anyone wanting to produce sublimation printed products used in conjunction with our A4 Sublimation Printer Packages. An excellent choice for those starting out in sublimation printing without breaking the bank. With a medium 30 x 23cm heating element this machine is perfect for anyone using an A4 sublimation printer and will allow maximum coverage from designs printed on this size media. Perfect for all flat products including t-shirts, cushion covers, aprons, metal sheets, jigsaw puzzles, mouse mats, coasters, chopping boards this list goes on. This machine is also well suited to pressing thicker products such as slates, acrylic blocks or glass that are greater than 10mm in thickness - our clam presses can struggle with thicker products whereas the swing press can be used with ease and great success. The swing away design provides excellent levels of pressure, but this can also be adjusted depending on the product being heat pressed. Perfectly suited to the hobbyist or small business user looking to begin their journey into sublimation. Simple to use, the digital control panel allows for quick and easy change of temperature and time to suit the recommended settings for the blank item being heat pressed. The main frame construction is steel with a textured black powder coat finish. The control module is finished in 'Ink Experts' hot magenta pink. Please note the bottom platen of our heat presses are produced using a casting method (to keep costs as low as possible), visually this means the edges can be rough and are not machine finished. The casting process has no effect on physical performance, reliability or use of the machine.
